Redcord is an individually-tailored workout designed to activate dormant muscles while alleviating the tension on overworked muscles. Using the principles of controlled instability, Redcord re-educates the neuromuscular system to break ineffective movement patterns and replace them with stronger, more functional muscular habits. Helping to change your body in a pain-free and supported environment, Redcord is especially great for injury recovery or enhancing your current fitness level.
At your first session, we will begin by discussing your fitness history and any injuries or physical concerns. Then Heather will guide you through exercises on the Redcord apparatus designed to test your muscles' functional capacity and identify any imbalances and weak links. Introduced to Redcord while teaching at a Pilates studio in her hometown of Atlanta, Heather was delighted to discover that Redcord was a perfect complement to her Pilates certification and classical dance training. She began teaching private neuromuscular re-education workouts in 2009 after becoming a certified ActivCore practitioner on the Redcord apparatus. She furthered her education with a suspension training certification on the BioCored System of Corrective Movement in 2010.
A professional dancer with Austin-based ballet company Metamorphosis Dance, she credits Redcord and Pilates with helping her stay injury-free throughout her performing career.
